Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic - Wednesdays
Event Details
The Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic (MVLC) located at the United Community Center is available on Wednesdays from 5 to 7. It offers free brief legal advice and referral on civil legal matters including but not limited to evictions & housing law; eviction records cleanup; debt/collections; small claims; guardianship; probate; family law including divorce, child support, placement, custody; and more. Immigration lawyers and Spanish interpreters are available at this clinic. No criminal or employment discrimination.
In-person walk-in clinic. Building closed to visitors until sign-in begins.
Sign-in Procedure: during sign-in, people are signed up in order for intake purposes.
Service Procedure: people sign-in for different types of services. People are NOT necessarily taken in for services in the same order they sign-in. For example, if the fifth person to sign-in is the first person to sign-in for family advice, they could be the first person called.
Clinic services fill up quickly due to the high need and limited availability of free legal help. Please be kind, patient, and calm with the volunteer law students and lawyers providing the service. Everyone is doing their best to serve as many people as possible during these much-needed clinics.
Sign-in begins between 4:00-4:30PM based on volunteer arrival. Building closed to visitors until sign-in begins. Check the website before going because location, times, and closure dates may be subject to change.
