Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic - Thursdays
Event Details
The Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic (MVLC) located at the Milwaukee Justice Center (Room G9) within the Milwaukee County Courthouse is available on Thursdays from 9 to 11. It offers free brief legal advice and referral on civil legal matters including but not limited to evictions & housing law; eviction records cleanup; debt/collections; small claims; guardianship; probate; family law including divorce, child support, placement, custody; and more. No criminal or employment discrimination.
In-person walk-in clinic. Lines form before start time & clinics often fill quickly.
Sign-in Procedure: during sign-in, people are signed up in order for intake purposes.
Service Procedure: people sign-in for different types of services. People are NOT necessarily taken in for services in the same order they sign-in. For example, if the fifth person to sign-in is the first person to sign-in for family advice, they could be the first person called.
Clinic services fill up quickly due to the high need and limited availability of free legal help. Please be kind, patient, and calm with the volunteer law students and lawyers providing the service. Everyone is doing their best to serve as many people as possible during these much-needed clinics.
Sign-in begins at 8:30 AM, but lines form before then and clinic fills up quickly, so you are encouraged to come well before the clinic begins in order to get a spot on the waitlist. Check website before going because location, times, and closure dates may be subject to change.
Only helps Milwaukee County residents or people with Milwaukee County cases.
