How to Change a Child Support Order If Both Parents Agree

Ideally, you and the other parent agree to the child support order change(s) before going to court. If that happens, the two of you can file a Stipulation to Change Child Support and Order on Stipulation to Change to Child Support with the local County Clerk of Court's office. There is no filing fee for this.

If you and the other parent agree, you can change almost anything in the orders. HOWEVER, if one party is receiving public assistance (W2, day care assistance, Food Share, and certain medical assistance), you cannot set the amount to $0.00.

If either of you is receiving public assistance or there is a case worker from the Child Support Agency assigned to your case, you must take these forms to the Child Support Agency in your county for approval before filing with the court.

Once filed, the court will look over and sign the new order, assuming it is within the standards set by law, and you are then done with the child support order change process!
