Aging and Disability Resource Center of Door County
The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Door County provides Elder and Disability Benefit Specialists. The Benefit Specialists are trained to assist adults living with a disability and older adults (60+) who who want to know more about private or public benefits, who are seeking assistance in organizing the paperwork required to apply for benefits, who are having a problem in securing a public or private benefit, or who have been denied a benefit that they think they are entitled to receive. Benefit Specialists can:
- Present accurate information on public and private benefits and programs;
- Assist in filling out applications;
- Suggest alternative actions to secure benefits or appeal denials of benefits
- Explain legal action or other possible solutions
- Advocate on your behalf with other parties
- Refer you to an appropriate attorney when necessary
- Provide support and referrals on other matters including disability rights and the impact of earnings on financial eligibility for benefits;
- Discuss formal appeals related to denials of eligibility, termination of benefits or overpayment of public or private benefits.
