Legal Action of Wisconsin - Eviction Defense Project - La Crosse
Legal Action of Wisconsin (LAW) provides same-day, in-person eviction, prevention and diversion services at the courthouse in Milwaukee and La Crosse counties through the Eviction Defense Project (EDP). This project serves only tenants with hearings scheduled the day of service. Free legal help includes brief legal advice, document drafting, settlement assistance and in-court representation.

The EDP operates on Fridays beginning at 8:30am outside the mediation room of the La Crosse Courthouse on the third floor.

How to Get Service
Same-day service at the courthouse.
Other Eligibility
Income: must be under 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Must be US citizen; lawful permanent resident; asylee or refugee; person who has been granted withholding of removal; adjustment of status applicant who also has a US citizen spouse parent or child (under 21); or victim of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault or other crimes which are included in the U visa laws. Can provide limited services for H2A or H2B workers and lawful temporary residents.
